At first, Mission furniture was all about utilitarian design. In case you don't know, "utilitarian" means function is more important than looks. In fact, legend has it that the Mission design came from the solid wood furniture built by Spanish missionary monks in the Southwestern USA.

Happily for us who are not Spanish monks, and who care about how our furniture looks, someone strayed far enough from the original Mission philosophy to add (very unnecessary and even impractical) panels to this Mission bed. Don't worry, though, this custom bedroom furniture is still built using the same techniques employed by 19th Century monks. In other words, it ain't gonna break.
